Aims & Scope

Chinese Studies is an international journal about China and Chinese civilization. The goal of this journal is to provide a platform for social scientists and academicians all over the world to promote scholarship on China and China-related topics.

All manuscripts must be prepared in English and are subject to a rigorous and fair peer-review process. Generally, accepted papers will appear online within 3 weeks followed by printed hard copy. The journal publishes original academic papers including but not limited to those with the following focuses (in alphabetical order):

· China in a global context

· Chinese arts (visual arts, audio arts, performance arts, etc.)

· Chinese business and management

· Chinese folklore and folklife

· Chinese historical geography

· Chinese history

· Chinese linguistics

· Chinese literature

· Chinese media

· Chinese philosophy

· Chinese public and academic information resources

· Chinese religion

· Chinese society

· Environmental development in China

· Healthcare and welfare in China

· Philological study of pre-modern Chinese texts

· Rural and/or urban China

· Silkroad and Dunhuang Studies

· Social and behavioral sciences in China

· Taiwan and cross-strait relations

· Tourism in China

· Women and gender in China

The Journal also publishes:
1) Short reports — 2-5 page papers in which an author can present either preliminary data or an idea with theoretical background, but has not yet completed the research needed for a complete paper;
2) Book reviews — Comments and critiques;
3) English translations of Chinese documents.
